Happy 70th Birthday to the great Christopher Walken! In celebration our amazing librarian at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Jeremy Megraw, wrote an awesome blog about Walken. Jeremy also uncovered some rarely seen photos of a VERY YOUNG Walken from The Library’s incredible Billy Rose Theatre Collection. The photo above is from Ronnie Walken’s (his birth name) 1955 acting resume. Our friends at Gothamist also shared some of these photos as well as some that they found as well…

Look at that punum!

“We are all so impressed with the book, THE OUTSIDERS by S. E. Hinton, that a petition has been circulated asking that it be made into a movie. We have chosen you to send it to. In hopes that you might also see the possibilities of the movie we have enclosed a copy of the book.” -Jo Ellen Misakian, a Lone Star School Library Aide, Letter to Francis Ford Coppola (via Letters of Note)

The Hollywood Librarian:A Look at Librarians through Film will be the first full-length documentary film to focus on the work and lives of librarians.  Using the entertaining and appealing context of American movies, the film will hold some surprises for people who may think they know what librarians do.
